Family Reunion--of sorts

Brien's Grandma and her husband, Bill, came for a visit this weekend. They were staying with his parents, and they wanted us all to get together. When I say "us all" I mean our family of four and then his sister, Jen, her husband, Derek, and their four kids, Kelsey, Miles, Lydia and Jocelyn. The only two missing were B's brother, Josh, and his wife, Dana.

Lily had a grand time, as you can see =). She has become such a little ham. Any time she sees a camera flash she begins to grin and cheese it up. Hannah, well, she had a difficult time today. It must be hard to be four. Kelsey is nine, and into her own thing. Miles and Hannah are seven weeks apart in age. Lydie is two and Jocelyn (Ja Ja) is exactly three months older than Lily.

So, with this diversity of ages, Hannah and Miles sort of get lost in the shuffle. add to this the fact that Hannah was pretty knackered and all chaos broke loose. She didn't want to play with Miles. She didn't like Miles. She wasn't eating strawberry cake, did you hear me Miles?! Oh, it was awful. Usually H and Miles are as thick as thieves. Today was not so much fun.

I think it must have been especially tough since everyone wanted to be with the babies, and not with them. Hannah has been the center of our universe for so long I think the usurpation of her position has been a little difficult to handle.

Meanwhile, Miles wasn't exactly understanding of H's not wanting to play with him and pestered and pestered her. We finally had to put Miss Hannah down for a nap at about 1. She didn't get up until 4:30, when I woke her up! Obviously much of her trouble was caused by exhaustion.

We left around 5:00 or so and came home to get the girls fed and ready for bed.

Lily has decided she actually does like some baby foods. She conceded and ate some oatmeal mixed with breast milk and pears. She also likes to feed herself Cheerios, Gerber wagon wheels and Gerber fruit and veg puffs. I'm going to start her on Veggie Booty soon. I also introduced Lily to a sippy cup this weekend. I mixed a teeny tiny smidgey of juice with four ounces of water. She really isn't sure if she likes it, but is willing to put the rubber spout in her mouth and gnaw on it.

So, after a bath and final nursing, Lily is out like a light! Hannah next...

A note: It is nearly impossible to get a good photo of everyone with so many people in the mix, as well as so many children. These were the best of the bunch.

You've got a nice family photo here - and everyone looks great. Is school out there?
