I'm at a loss as to what to write about tonight. Lily has been a pistol today, screeching and tantruming to her little heart's content. Unfortunately, it doesn't make me very happy...
I'm becoming more and more ill by the moment, and the thing is, I don't have time to be sick!! I'm the Mama, first of all, and everyone knows Mamas aren't allowed to be sick. Then, of course, I'm the Fifth grade Mama, and I need to be there for the kiddos.
It's a sort of low-grade sick, as I'm losing my voice, have a sore throat and headache and a cough. I'm also left feeling tired and wiped out by 3:00, hence my lack of desire to cook dinner again tonight.
All of this means I'm out of patience with my sweet Little Bit (who is truly anything but sweet this evening). She has been fussing over everything, screaming "NO" at the top of her lungs at Lissie over Sight Speed, and wallering me all the while whining and crying. If I didn't know any better, I would think she is getting ill as well. Wouldn't that be fun??
I truly adore this little imp. She is the light of my life and I can't imagine where I would be without her. But, days like today, I get so frustrated. I wish she would listen when I spoke to her when she is screaming and whining. I wish she would have more patience. I wish she weren't so strong-willed and stubborn. She is so determined to do things her way that she listen to how much simpler the task could be accomplished. What a willful little imp!!
As I have mentioned before, it's all the harder because Han was such a good little listener. She was willful and stubborn, but not to the same degree as Miss Hardhead here. Truthfully, I'm grateful Lil's as stick-to-your-guns as she is, as I know it will hold her in good stead as an adult. I also foresee many future battles as she and I butt heads again and again and again...:sigh:

Today's Sparklies:
1.
This photo is for Paul. This is Connie Bear and she is very sweet. She is also well loved by Miss Lil and is currently snugglin' down under the blankets.
2. My Stampin' Up order has shipped and I should have all my goodies by next Monday--YAY!! :o)
3. Sight Speed. How else could I see all Lissie's most recent acquisitions and chat with Paul for free?
4. The colder weather. I LOVE it!
5. The staff at school who have all stepped up to the plate to help with duties that my grade team were trying to manage. Thank you all!
6. Tomorrow is "Friday" as it is the kids' last day of school for the week.
7. Ibuprofen. What a fantastic pain killer!
8. Lil's new overalls. They are too sweet on her.
9. How exciting that Miss Lily can now wear size 12-18 month clothes??!!?? Yay! She's growing!
10. Ready-made sushi at Ukrop's. I'm off to get some as soon as Lil is down and out.
I can't really think of any milestones today. Oh, wait, yes I can. I was watching PBS Sprout with Lily when the "Good Night" show came on. Han LOVED the "Good Night" show and watched as long as we would let her. Ah, the child took after me she was such a tv junkie. I found I just couldn't watch Nina and Star this evening. I usually try to embrace those things which Han loved, but tonight, with my patience zapped by Lil, and feeling down and out health-wise, I just couldn't do it.
Oh, and Lil managed to find one of Han's take-home stories from last fall. I can remember Han reading it to me, and grumbling as I made her read again. I can see her slouched in the big arm chair, her hair hanging in her face, once again, propping the book on her chest as she mumbled it to me. I called her over to me and had her snuggle against my side as we read it again, together. I don't miss making her angry, and making her do things she didn't want to do, but, boy, do I miss her.

I'm off to put Lil to bed, and I'm going to try to get to bed early myself. I need to rest.
Have a great night everyone! :o)

Feel better!
Must be something going around today. My little one was unhappy from the time she woke up this morning until bedtime.
Here's to hoping tomorrow is a whine-free day! Hope you feel better too!
I have screaching Adam days very often - I am sorry! My new fav thing to do is tell him he needs some quiet time and put him into his crib with his soother. See he used to get his soother all the time, now it's just for sleeping or quiet time. This gives me two 20 minute much needed breaks in the day!
FEEL BETTER SOON!! **HUGS***
Wow I have missed a lot! How are you doing? I have been busy packing moving and unpacking.
Love ya,
Jennifer
Oh no... I hope you don't end up very sick. Remember, even the Mama has to take care of number 1 every once in awhile. I bet you are right-that Lil is getting sick, or not feeling just right as well. I hope, whatever it is, it passes through swiftly and you are soon feeling better. Many hugs to you, along with healing vibes.
This sounds like a good day for a "crappy day" present =). Of course, I also know how nice it is to save those presents for as long as possible because there is just something comforting in the knowledge that I have one =).
Rach in CA (not to be confused with FROM California ;-), but IN California because of the military)
Sounds like Lily maybe has a touch of 'ill' too. I hope you rested and slept well.
Thinking of you.
Hugs.
Hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself...then you can take care of all the others! Sending you healthy vibes!
I'm so sorry you aren't well. We had a similar bug enter our house right after my flu shot too. It started w/ Syd though so, I'm guessing she was the carrier.
It is definitely sucky to be sick anytime, but especially when you have other people depending on you. Rest, drink lots and feel better soon.
Jess
Rach - I hope you feel better soon and I hope Lil isn't coming down with something herself...
The pics are great!
Start taking your vitamin C and Airborne!
Lil looks super cute in her "over-hauls". :)
I hope you feel better soon and I sure hope Ms. Lily isn't getting sick. My little ones are down and out and it is no fun. I just hope I can be the caretaker and not the ill one until this little bug leaves.
I hate that you're not feeling well. These last few weeks I've been feeeling yucky but I know it is just fall allergies and sleep issues. The baby is moving around a bunch this morning, so that gives us something to smile about. Good luck getting through the week and definitely get your rest. Virtual Hugs headed your way!
Kat
Oh poor Rach! I hope you get all better, and that Lil and her strong willed personality does not get the best of you as you are not feeling too great...how about I come down there and entertain her and you can sleep the whole weekend? :) When I was little, I was too shy to tantrum. Funny that I turned out to be such a chatterbox, so maybe Lily will turn out to be shy eventually? Hang in there...
I also wonder if she may have some sort of a food allergy? I had friends that their kiddo would freak out after having any lactose or red food dye. Hmmm...just a thought! Talk to you soon!
Found your blog way of Walking Lunatic Fringe. You amaze me with your strength and optimism. Thank you for sharing tha.
I wanted to email you privately, but noticed you don't have one listed. I have been reading your blog since July. I check in daily but rarely comment.
I just want to tell you that I have 3 kids in elementary school. (I have 5 total) They had their book fair this weekend. One of the options at the book fair was to buy a book and donate it to their class. I saw Fancy Nancy and immediately thought of you and Hannah. I bought 3 copies and donated 1 to each of my children's classrooms with a note in memory of Hannah. I hope that is okay.
I told my kids who Hannah is and why I asked for the book to be donated in her memory. And I told My 7 year old daughter about how she liked to dress up. She was somber and told me she probably would have liked to play with her, since she loves to dress up too.
I just wanted to let you know that my kids were touched and thrilled that we did this. I hope it's a small sparkly for you.
Sorry to hear that your feeling under the weather. I hope that you feel better soon.
I love Lily’s hat its way too cute!
Feel better!
I LOVE Lily's cutie-patootie hat!!
