First off, I saw this little peeved pup on I Has a Hot Dog last night and couldn't stop laughing. Something about the "I'll kill u" face on such a cute beastie I guess. ;o)
While I was in the "funnies" mood, I remembered Bob had snapped these pics of Waylen last Sunday. Hee hee!
Pink feathered mustache anyone? :oP ****************************************I spoke with Jessie this morning and they won't be making it into town for Steppin' Out. I had hoped they would be there as well as the girls had such a fabulous time playing last week. Saturday evening was our culminating activity, a bonfire and s'mores. YUM!
The dogs like such events as well as there always seem to be plenty of marshmallows to be found discarded on the deck and patio. ;o)

The girlies were up WAY too late (past 10) but it was totally worth it. They had SO much fun toasting the marshmallows. They came in smelling of campfires and long-ago overnight camp experiences. :o) **************************************************Lil and I met Shari and "Wissa" at the free movie this morning. We saw "Kung Fu Panda", and the theater was PACKED! We were all taking advantage of the free movie and a/c on someone elses power bill. :oP Lil thoroughly enjoyed her second theater experience, especially as she was perched on Lissa's lap the entire time. :o) Lily sure has missed her daily trips to Miss Shari's house--I'm sure she's anxiously awaiting her return come August. Speaking of which, I can't believe my summer is almost over. I'm not dreading the end as much as I have in years past, thank goodness. Of course, it's still a few weeks off, so give me a few more days. ;o)********************************************************Today's Sparklies:1. Garden veggies for dinner--the salsa kit, ears of corn, salad, caprese salad. Mmmmm2. Lil at the movies. She was so stinkin' earnest and cute. :o)3. I saw a couple of my students at New Town today, and they made a point of saying "hi" to me first!! That group of boys is a bunch of sweeties. 4. My new hair cut is holding up so well. Thank you thank you thank you, Jessie!5. Brien and I hung out in the studio together last night, listening to HP #6. :o)
6. Dinner with Julie and her family. :o)
No milestones.
It's been stormy--severely so--the past two afternoon/evenings, which has triggered massive Hannah longings. It has also been so hot and humid I've been miserable and have only wanted to hang out in the relative cool of the a/c. UGH!Friday was one such hot, sticky day. Yet, we made it to Kidsburg and Busch Gardens ("Kindergarten" if you're Lil). These photos are from Friday afternoon and evening.
The hat was mine when I was tiny. Grammy made it for me and I remember wearing it quite a bit. Now it's Lily's turn. :o)

Our playground is just lovely and is equipped to accommodate special needs children as well. Gabriel and Lil decided to swing together in one of those swings. :oP
Oh was he proud of himself when he figure out he could do this. He was hysterical! After nap we made it to "kindergarten":

They have a splash pad in the Sesame Forest place. I'm wondering if it would be unreasonable to take Lil on really hot days for only an hour. We have season passes, after all... ;o)
This was one place Gabriel could be with the big girls. Of course, he wasn't much interested in getting too wet.
He did however thoroughly enjoy the Sesame characters' show. :o)
Look at this face! :oP I had to laugh because we ran into Lola, Nick and Elijah at the park. The girls and Elijah rode the bumper cars, carousel and Red Baron planes together while I caught up with Lola.
Gabe-man enjoyed kicking back in the stroller--now with built-in leg/foot rests. ;oP
We ended our evening at the Lil' Clydes, one of Hannah's all-time favorite rides. These girlies sure seemed to enjoy it as well. :o) *****************************************In other news, Brien seems to have scratched his sclera (the white part of his eye) and is now on a course of eye drop antibiotics. Ugh. I've been lazy the last two days. Okay, yesterday afternoon (after Jess et. al. left) and today. Yesterday was Jessie's birthday and I made scones for breakfast (oatmeal and oatmeal blueberry), tuna casserole for lunch (at her request) and lemon pound flop for birthday cake. What's that? It's supposed to be lemon pound cake not flop? Well, it didn't turn out that way here. :sigh: I've never had a cake collapse like this one did. It was AWFUL. :o( The lemon pound cake recipe is so fool-proof and I have no idea what went wrong. *******************************************Today's Sparklies:1. A lazy day is sometimes a good thing.2. B home with us. No, it wasn't under ideal circumstances, but it was still nice having him with us.3. Playing "Memory" with Lil. She's quite good!4. Lil took a four hour power nap this afternoon. She had been running on quite the deficit so the long snooze was much needed.5. I've turned a page and now thoroughly enjoy those thunder boomers we've been having. I'm not sure when it happened, or why, but my fear is gone. Hooray! No Milestones.

Oh, and BTW, the sungolds were gone by last night. ;o)
*****EDITED TO ADD*****
Lily ate FIVE slices of pizza for dinner tonight. :eye pop: I have NO idea where she put it.
This was the first weekend in quite a while that we have been in town and been able to hit the Farmers' Market. Boy have I missed it! (I haven't missed the excessive heat and humidity, though. UGH! I thought we were all going to be able to swim home in the stickiness--it was SO awful.) Being mid-July, all sorts of tasty foods are ripe and ready for harvesting. Okay, so the blackberry butter and sweet potato bickies aren't quite harvest items, but they are still SO good. :o)
Tree ripened yellow peaches from local orchards. I do believe peaches are my absolute favorite fruit, but only fresh in the summer. They have to be so ripe they slurp when you eat them and juice runs down your arms and face and you are left a sweet and sticky mess. :o)
Kelrae had their sunflowers again. Our sunflowers sort of pooped out on us, but for $2 I got five stems. Not too bad.
And, how happy was I to see these babies? OMGOMGOMGOMG! It's candy season!!!!! :o) I purchased three pints, Jessie one. The kids devoured a pint before we even left the FM. Who can blame them? These guys sit on the counter and you just grab a handful as you go by. My guess is they'll be mostly gone by tomorrow afternoon. ;oP
And, I picked up one of Blenheim's awesome salsa kits. We look forward to these every summer. :o) It was lovley to see Becky as I hadn't seen her all season--she said she had missed seeing me as well. :o)
The flowers are from Amy's and the lady there also said she had missed seeing me. Please know, the market is ALWAYS jam-packed with people--locals, touristas, students, etc.--which leads me to wonder how in the world they remember me. My smile and friendly attitude? Who knows...
Oh, yes, a half dozen ears of corn from Kelrae. I'm SO looking forward to having these with smoked paprika butter tonight. Mmmmm
Last, but certainly not least, I purchased four pints of blueberries. I'm strongly considering making Jessie's birthday cake a blueberry/lemon pound cake. Oh, and adding blueberries to tomorrow morning's scones. The vendor said she expcets they'll be here four more weeks. Awesome news! :o) *****************************We spent yesterday morning at Kidsburg and last night at BG. They kids were beat and so were we. I'm going to try to post photos tomorrow. :o) I hope everyone has a LOVELY weekend! :o)
