This little guy really made me chuckle, and it was a laugh I needed. The post holiday blues have hit me particularly hard this year, and I don't know why. :o( Was it because I was actually home all day every day and I don't want to see my Christmas decor put away? Is it I didn't get to spend much time with B because of his new job? Is it a down yo (I don't think so, but who knows)? Is it just the holiday blues? I don't know.
I do know the house will have to be undecorated before next Saturday. We usually leave the decorations up until after Brien's birthday (the 12th day of Christmas), but with the girls' baptism the 8th, there is no time to do so that weekend, and we will have a houseful. We need to be undecorated and ready to celebrate without Christmas in evidence.
Besides, I'm ready, I truly am ready for my house to be it's usual, fairly un-cluttered self. I have absolutely glutted myself on sugar and butter and rich decadent food, and I'm ready for lots of fresh salads and to toss the sugar. I had to chuckle, we took tins of candy to Nana and Pop's house for sharing, and Grandma/GG said she was going to "eat some of that crap Rachael brought", lol! She meant to say "Trash", but "crap" came out, and is FAR more appropriate. ;o)
Anyhow, this evening B and I will bring in the tubs so the un-decorating can commence. I suppose it will be nice to get my house "back to normal", but I'll sure miss my Christmas tree at night. :sigh: And, really, there is something so sad about the removal of all vestiges of the holidays. Winter is an awfully bleak season without the cheer of Christmas. :oS
Next week, in preparation of Saturday, I need to steam clean the carpets, scrub the kitchen floor, and declutter the dining room and dog's room/laundry room. That on top of my usual chores, and Lil and I resume Mommy School next week. Maybe I just need to get back into my usual routine? I just don't know.

Today's Sparklies:
1. I received a box of Aunt Sally's Creole Pralines from N'Awlins, and my goodness are they gooooooooood. ;o)
2. The dresses have been ordered (thank you, Jessie!). Now to get white cardis and shoes and socks, and a new white hairbow for Bitty. Ella and Gracie will have the same dress (with pink cardis) and they'll all wear them again at Easter since we'll all be together then as well (since Jessie will be here for the Easter Vigil since I'll be entering the Church then), and we like to have the girls "matchy-matchy" while we can. :o)
3. "Red meatloaf" for dinner.
4. Nana and Dad just called to offer to bring Lil to lunch and a movie tomorrow. I know there's no way I'll get out to see "Tangled" before it's out of the theaters, and I'm delighted they're going to take the time to take her. :o) She could use a little one-on-one with her N and P right now.
5. I'm still getting Christmas cards. :o) I LOVE that!
No milestones.

I am with you 100% on the post-decor blah. Without the tree, the room just looks so dreary and I am not looking forward to taking ours down.
It's good that you have such a wonderful event to look forward to and I'll bet all the girls will look fabulous.
Sounds like you are going to be busy. I was late getting my tree up this year so it is staying up until the mid of Jan. Can't wait to see the girls in their dresses. My eight year old granddaughter will be baptized this Feb. I will be making her a white dress. Precious memories being made.
Still getting Christmas cards...what a joy!!! I will agree that winter can be dark and dreary. Good think Caleb's birthday is soon and my favorite holiday...Valentine's Day!!! You are going to be busy this week, but it will all be worth it. I love that Lil is going to get to see Tangled. Hugs :)
Gosh, I so know how you are feeling. I am right there with you. I slowly took things down today, and then had a meltdown. Our fireplace looks sooooo blah. And, Trav is taking down the tree right now while I sit in the rocking chair (I am holding a baby, though). Oops!
Hope the rest of your week goes well! Loved catching up and reading about your family the last couple of days. Lots of snow - wow!!
:)
I do that down thing every year, and I hate it! I wish I didn't feel that way and try not to and then end up feeling more guilty when I do. Glad to know I'm not the only one- though I hate for anyone else to have that. Today our daughter was sad about having to take down Christmas; that was the first time she's expressed it.
I saved my snowmen for after Christmas, so tomorrow I'll put them up and maybe that will help. I'm trying to not think about work next week, but I can feel it lurking there. I'll deal with that this weekend, but not until I have to!
I hope you post lots of photos of the girls; can't wait to see them on their important day!
Hugs to you Rach, BIG HUGS!!!!
I'm happy to add to your enjoyment by being fashionably late sending out our Christmas cards, hee hee. If you haven't gotten ours already it should get there in the next day or two. That's why our letter is usually a "holiday" letter since it's usually closer to New Year's lol.
Prettiest Christmas trees at night...I used to work at a little home furnishings store where we would set up about 20 Christmas trees for the season. We would always take one night after closing before Christmas to turn off all the other lights in the store and just enjoy the sight of all of those beautiful lights. :o)
Hope you feel better tomorrow! Hugs!
We'll be undecorating our home come Sunday. It always takes so much time and then the house looks stripped. :( I'm with you.
Okay, I was very offended for you about Grandma's comment, but it made sense after you explained the trash bit. :S
Everything will be wonderful for your baptism. All will fall together beautifully!
I am really lazy when it comes to taking down the tree. Usually it is the second week in January. However, one year Thomas really wanted to put it up, so we put it up ... in October.....and then didn't take it down until March...!
Love,
Jane
By the way, did you see the beautiful photo of the cardinal in the finalists for Pioneer Woman's photo contest? I thought of you straight away. The link to the photographer's flickr stream is http://www.flickr.com/photos/katydid56/5277614439/ or you can find it in PW's photography section.

Rach, I know how you feel. I always seem to get that way at year end and closing down the Christmas decorations seems to be a part of that. You do have a wonderful thing to look forward to, though. Not having B around as much will certainly impact your mood. Big hugs, my friend!
Jaydee
I completely feel you on the post holiday blues....our "crap" is still up, but I feel "bluer" than ever this year. I think it's because for the fourth Christmas, I've missed my extended family. :0(
Hope it gets better...you have so much to look forward to!
I always used to get the after Christmas blues. I still get them some, but it is a lot better now and I'm so used to it. Hang in there.
