My Bitty is Six!

Well, it happened, my girlie turned six.  Oh what a sweet, precious, patient child she is.

She came in our bathroom this morning as we were getting ready, all excited about her special day.  And, oh what a day she had.

There was one gift to open this morning (B had already gone to work), from Robin.  She sent one of her extra geologist's loupes with some cord for Lil to use to be able to wear it.  For a child who adores magnifying glasses, it was a perfect gift.

Ah, but I'm getting ahead of myself.  First, there was this.

A birthday card from Santa and Fisbee!

See, Fisb is even wearing a party hat!

Then there was the card and gift, and then reindeer pancakes for brekky.  I took a photo with my phone but I haven't downloaded the photos yet.  Sorry.

But, that was it.  No more presents.  No more cards.  Nothing until almost 8:00 tonight.  And she was fine with that!  What a wonderful child.  She was thrilled with everything she received--three Melissa & Doug stamp sets from my mom, a remote control LPS car and walking LPS critter from Nan and Pop, a Zhu Zhu from Ellie, a magazine subscription from Jessie and her family, and two tag books and a Melissa & Doug stir fry set from us.  Whew!  The child racked up!  :oP

We did dinner at Carrabba's so Bitty could have the steak and mushrooms she wanted.  She filled up on dinner.  In fact, she was SO full she declined to eat any of her birthday brownies.  Yes, the darling requested brownies with chocolate frosting.  Perfect.

Yes, she may drive me absolutely batty with her pokiness and distractedness.  Grate on my every last nerve with her stubborness.  And, yet, she's one delightfully perfect little six year old girl.  Such perfection to be found in such imperfections.  :happy sigh:

As for me, after last night's frantic, pity-party dump of a post, I'm doing SO much better!  I set about cleaning up my house and decluttering, which of course set me on a more even keel.  Then, I was able to get bunches done today (minus cleaning the bathrooms, but who needs clean bathrooms anyway?!?) and I feel so good about that.

But, more importantly, I just took time to sit and listen and be still.  That more than anything was key.  God gave me a bit of a swift kick upside the hiney and I heard Him.  There are so many things out there that are more important than my self-imposed timelines and activities, and He helped me to see that and take a broader focus once more.  Which was definitely a good thing.

Do I still need to brave the post office to get stamps?  Alas, yes.  But, I'm doing click and ship from home, so I can use the stamp machines instead.  Whew.  Do I still have batches of cookies and cakes to make?  Yup.  Will it kill me if they aren't done?  Nope.  And, I'm good with that.  :contented sigh:

Today's Sparklies:

1.  Lil's birthday!  What a kid!  She got to make a crown at school, got to stand up ON her seat at lunch and have all the kids sing happy birthday to her.  She wore her crown all day--even out to dinner.  :o)
2.  Getting so much done today.  It helped me chill.
3.  It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas under our tree.  :o)
4.  Erin called and asked to talk to Lil and wished her a happy birthday.  Lil heard it was Erin and exclaimed, "I MISS you!" So sweet.  We haven't seen them in forever
5.  Have I mentioned yet that Josh and Dana are coming into town just after Christmas and bringing sweet baby Ever with them?  Sweet baby E whom I've yet to actually hold and touch and snuggle?  I can't WAIT to see them!
6.  The ability to be flexible.  We had plans with Jen's family for Wednesday evening.  But, due to Uncle Sam's viewing and funeral, those plans will need to be altered a bit.

Milestone:
Well, this one's a biggie.  Lil's six.  Hannah never was.  It seems strange to say I have a six year old, when I know there is a big sister who will never be six.  And yet, the yo is up.  I think it was much harder for me when Lil hit that magical day when she was officially older than Hannah ever was.  Today is just another bittersweet moment in a looooooong line of bittersweet moments.  There are many more to come, I know.  And yet, they don't scare me and leave me anxious and anxiety-filled as they once would have.  Time.  It's all about time...

Happy Birthday Lily! What a wonderful day. LOVE steak and mushrooms. :)

I must be feeling better because I can type that without gagging. This bug was a full 24 hours long. I am just now able to sit up. I was supposed to bake cookies for Ryan's work party tomorrow. That sure the blazes didn't happen. I had a bunch of errands to run that didn't happen either. Oh well! Right?? Tissy and Ra Ra arrive Friday, I have major cleaning to do. How I wish a Merry Maid would stop by tomorrow. :)

So happy that the passing of time, has made milestones easier to bear.
