I found this one on Pinterest and fell in love. It was full of whimsy and character and I found it fabulous. Now, with that said, my decorating style and taste (applies to cards as well), runs along clean, simple, rather elegant lines, and this wreath has none of that. I found the "Jolly Holiday" theme at Pier1 fun and fantastic, but knew there was no way it would fit in my house. Ahhh, there's the key, in my house. Perfect!
I picked up all the items I could find that I thought would be fun and fantastic and got to work. Now, I did mention I have nary a crafty bone in my body outside of card making, right? Well, my wreath was not nearly so floofy and fun as the original.
But, you know what, I like it! In fact, I really like. I may even love it. :o) It's fun, it's floofy-ish, it's festive, and it caters to that sparkly whimsical side that I can't indulge inside. And, it was FUN to put together too. :o)
Brien is very diplomatic and says, "It's...er...rather...um, nontraditional. But, I like it." He's a good man. :o) I'm sure he positively loathes it, but because it makes me happy, and because he truly doesn't care about home decor and such (outside of me asking him to help), he's fine with it.
Lily, now she's another story. She ADORES it. :o) It dolls up the front of the house, that's for sure. Too bad it doesn't go with those trees. ;oP

Fisbee Watch
I knew he was up to something hanging out in those cookie cutters yesterday. We came downstairs this morning to find he had made us a batch of Preacher Cookies (no-bake cookies for you non-Appalachian folks out there). I suppose it's a good thing he wasn't playing with the oven, huh?
My question is, where did he get that apron? Hm...

Today's Sparklies:
1. The weather held so the Kindergartners could go on their field trip to Jamestown. Hooray! It was sunny and 70 this morning (NOT December, but perfect for a an outside field trip).
2. I sorted through the toys in the playroom and made piles to be donated, to be trashed and to be put away for later. It looks fabulous in there. :o)
3. Fred surveying his domain:
He and George both hang out up there watching the world go by. They use the cat condo as a ramp and will jump from the top of the entertainment center up onto the bridge! Or, they'll jump off the bridge on to the entertainment center. It's a real kitty highway, that's for sure.
4. And, speaking of the kitties, they have (oh goodness, I'm SO going to regret typing this for bad things are going to happen now) left the trees and decorations alone. I'm shocked, but quite happy by this. :o)
5. Also, the sweet little shoulder-sitting kittens have been replaced by these 10 pound monsters. And, they're still growing! They are still very sweet, though. :o)
6. Getting started on my Christmas cards. I think I'm behind this year...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the wreath! Great job!
Love, love, love your wreath! You did a great job.
I just ordered my Ellie an "Elf on the Shelf" set. She's only 7 months old this Christmas, but hopefully it will become a holiday favorite for her. I like seeing all the mischief that Fisbee gets into!
Love your wreath, you did a great job!!
Rach-
add some red to the trees by the front door and the wreath will "match" as you said.
You did a wonderful job on the wreath!
That is one spectacularly exciting and bright wreath! At least you can see it well from the street! :-)
I had to go buy some extra fake red berries and stick them in mine b/c you couldn't see it against the dark green door. Maybe I should have you make one of these for me in exchange for a trip down to give you a a haircut!

Wowee! It looks awesome!!! You did such a great job! It is so much fun! Fisbee is such a champ! He is putting the pressure on old Buddy! There had better be some baked goods coming our way pronto! :)
Will you make me a wreath? I love yours. :)

Thinking of you and praying for you as I saw the VT news today.
Nice job..love the bright wreath!
lol my word verify was muccous almost like mucous...blah!
You can make the trees go with the wreath. Here's what you do. Go to Target and buy their swirly clump stick things that are in the Christmas department. ($2.00 each) They are glittery and wonderful and I used the very same thing in one of the work trees. Now take some of that leftover ribbon (please tell me that you have extra?) and do loop picks that you can stick in the trees for color. (Loop some ribbon and floral tape them to bamboo skewers.) You see what I do with work trees and my tree at home. Floof, flip and fill. Voila. Trees and wreath match.
Hi Rachel-
I have been reading your blog for awhile now and just love reading about all of the fun things you and your family do! Recently you have gotten me addicted to Pinterest. I have sent several requests to join but have never received a response. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to send me an invitation. My e-mail address is bsobanskI@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Brandi
