Checking in on Those New Years Goals

As hard is it is for me to believe, March 1st is upon us already.  The weather today is simply beautiful--sunny, 75 degrees, breezy.  If this is March coming in like a lamb, I'm worried about the end of the month. ;o)

We've truly had no winter of which to speak, and while on the one had it has been nice given my desire to get out daily and walk with Beanie in tow, on the other hand, it means the bugs are going to be utterly ferocious this summer.  :o(

As it is the first of the moth, I thought I would go back over my New Years goals and evaluate how things are going.

1.  I'm definitely spending less time on the computer--but still not doing so hot when the kiddos are around.  I'm a work in progress, what can I say?

2. Making five cards a week.  Ha!  Still hasn't happened to any great degree.  Once my mojo has flown the coop, I'm stuck and have a difficult time getting going again.  Enter my dear friend, Amy.  She asked me to make three cards for her, I accepted, and had to get into the offudio.  As of last week, I've made 14 cards!  Hooray!!!!  :o)  Now that the dam has been broken, the creative juices are flowing once more.

3.  Sending out two cards a week.  Um, yeah.  See the note above about not making cards... I have, however, sent out a little thank you card and a birthday card this week, so again, I'm making strides.

4.  Eating more meatless meals.  Yup!  I've made a couple of different tofu recipes, and my friend, Jaydee, sent me the loveliest vegetarian cookbook chock a block full of recipes I'm longing to try.
5.  Mindful of family events.  Yup!  So far I have yet to miss a significant family event this year.  Of course, I'm only two months in...;o)

6.  My health.  Yup.  Still going strong here.  Ellie and I walk daily for a minimum of 2 miles, most days at least three.  If I can't get out to walk, I run on the elliptical.  I added crunches to my routine last month.  I'm adding leg strengthening to this month.  I'm able to jog quite a bit now, but my legs conk out well before my lungs do.  Gotta get them up to speed.  I'm feeling soooo much better now that I've taken charge of my eating and moving.  I'm determined to make it happen this time.

7.  Get out in nature more.  This is much easier once the weather is nicer, and I expect we'll be taking many hikes during the coming months.  That said, Ellie and I are out on the nature trail most mornings.  I see and hear birds, see deer, squirrels, and more.  I'm marking the changing of the seasons not by the calendar, but by what is happening in the world around me.

8.  Ahhh, tone of voice and kindness.  Yep.  Still working on this one.  See the previous post.

9.  Spending money.  I do so well with this one, and then I don't.  I was sitting in my house the other day, looking at all my "stuff".  I sat there and thought, "Oh. My. Word.  I own all of this.  This is my house, these are my things."  Wow.  Just, wow.  I don't guess I had ever really thought about it.  How blessed am I? I need to remember this the next time I think I just have to have something.

*****************************
Sparklies:

1.  Gorgeousness outside!
2.  Getting Nana off safe and sound.
3.  Getting into the offudio again.  Yay!
4.  Jori found some lime fun fur for me over her way.  YAY!  Thank you bunches!
5.  Cold medicine.  Ugh.  The girls and I all have whatever this yuckiness is, drat it all.

no milestones.

Hey! I'm glad to have lit the fire under your behind. The cards are great and I'm glad to see you working again!

The card thing. My goodness, I've sent out a handful this week. I have two baby cards, 1 birthday, 2 thank you's and 1 condolence. Thank goodness Hubs bought stamps!

Our eating has been better, but my exercising hasn't been so good. Drat the fact that my walking K- to and from school is on hold for the next year and a half. I can't wait until our new school is complete!

Cold? Yup. K- is toting something around. Meds are a very good thing. Feel better soon!
