Girlies Update

This photo and the next one were NOT taken today.  Nope.  Yesterday was gorgeous--sunny and cool.  Today was cool and rainy.  All. Day. Long.

C called this morning and said she didn't mind bringing A and heading to CW, but what did I want to do?  I figured I didn't mind if I got wet, but that Ellie wouldn't be the happiest of campers if she got wet.

The thing is, I had a miserable night last night.  I had one of those dreadful nights where I couldn't get to sleep before midnight and then Lil was up and in my room around 4:45 saying she woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.  And, in what was one of my finest parenting moments I asked, "You couldn't go back to sleep so you came in to wake me up and tell me?"  :sigh:  I quickly fixed myself, but I wasn't at my best having only had a little over four hours' sleep.  Ugh.  Then, Ellie started fussing and needed a snuggle.  I was none too pleased when the alarm went off at six.  :oS

So, when C called and asked if I wanted to go ahead and walk at CW or what, I quickly decided I had better go to her house to use one of her workout videos because otherwise I wouldn't be working out if I stayed home.

We did her tae bo tape and boy howdy...whew!  I'd never done that before and I have to say it was a good workout.  :o)  C told me as we were cooling down that it was good I had come over because if I hadn't, she wouldn't have gotten in any exercise today.  Ha!  I tell ya, we're good for each other. ;o)

Assuming the rain tapers off tonight, we'll be back to our regular routine tomorrow morning.  I have to say, I'm looking forward to it, and my guess is Ellie is too.  She likes to get out of the house.  My little extrovert. :o)

Speaking of Ellie, she's getting so big (okay, okay, not size-wise, but you know what I mean).  She's become quite the talker and rattles of strings of words all the time...if only I could understand what she was saying.  :oS  Sometimes she's patient with me and will repeat herself until I get it, and other times she just gets frustrated with me and begins to yell.  We all have those days and those moments.

I'm going to try to take inventory tomorrow and make a list of all her current words.  I can tell you she calls brownies "bunnies".  She kept begging for a "bunny" and I couldn't figure it out.  Then it hit me when she went racing over to the counter the plate of brownies was sitting on and pointed.  Ah ha! She really wants to communicate and be understood.

She is also quite the problem solver, scooting around anything she can so she can climb on it and make herself taller and climb things.  If she can't find something to climb on, she'll use my feet to make herself just that much taller.  Ouch!

She's very good about helping clean up--if you ask her.  She also knows where things belong and is good about putting them away.  And, her crib must be her most favorite place in the entire world as she is constantly tossing in toys and books.  I have no idea how she has any room to even sleep in there.  The latest toys to go in were four or five Duplos--which I found her sleeping on.  Yeow!

Meanwhile, Lil's tearing it up in Kindergarten. :o)  She absolutely adores school.  Yay!!  She loves Mrs. W and Mrs. S and has so many friends (minus C who continues to be a mean girl).  I'm so thrilled for her. :o)  Her reading and writing have improved by leaps and bounds and she breezes through math.  Hallelujah!  My biggest concern for Bitty is her organization or lack thereof.  She is still the messiest of Messy Bessies and doesn't see the messes.  She truly just doesn't see them (she takes after her daddy, what can I say?).  I can remind her ten times to put something away where it belongs but she won't (she still is very easily "stracted") and then can't find it.  I'm trying to instill good habits--put homework in the backpack as soon as it's finished and then put the backpack on it's hook--but even this close to the end of the year, she still needs reminders.  I know I shouldn't borrow trouble, but I do worry about grades 3-5 (I'm not even going to think about middle and high school...gah!).

I'm just going to take it one step at a time and try not to think about it. ;o)  I'm also going to pretend like I don't care her room is a pigsty.  :sigh:

She is such a delightful child and so creative and sweet.  She still loves to snuggle and cuddle and really is quite patient with Miss Bean.  The two of them are so sweet together (Lil reads to her!)--when they're not fighting!--and when one cries the other becomes upset and concerned and runs over to try to help (if the crying isn't fighting related, that is ;oP).

I honestly couldn't ask for better kiddos. :o)

***************************
Sparklies:

1.  Having a workout buddy.  If you have a hard time being "good" about working out, this is a great way to keep yourself in check.
2.  Check out Fred:
He was less than pleased B was trying to snuggle with him, lol.

3.  The rain has been much needed and quite lovely.  I love the scent of spring rain. :o)
4.  Magnum bar.   Mochaccino.  Mm.
5.  A visit with the vet's office yesterday.
6.  Making plans for the weekend.  :o)

No milestones.

Brownie=Bunny, I love that, so sweet.

I'm 15 years older than one of my sisters and she had quite a few "made up" words. For a while "apple ju" was anything to drink, even if she wanted milk she asked for "apple ju." Somehow blue koolaid turned into "looch." That one stumped her dad and I saved the day when I was able to translate for her. My absolute favorite though was her friend, "Matalie." She said Matalie, the rest of us said "Natalie." One day I slipped up and asked if she wanted to go play with "Matalie." She stopped in her tracks and glared at me and said "Her name is MATALIE, NOT MATALIE."

Charlotte is supremely messy and disorganised, too.

Drives me batty....

She will go to sleep with clothes all over her bed because she hasn't bothered to put them away!!

I love those creative made up words and phrases. My kids are old enough that those are pretty much gone, but my eight year old still says "mines" instead of "mine" (as in "yours and mines") and I can't bear to correct it.

Nice you have a workout buddy. I'm on my own in that regard and it's much harder to stay motivated some days.

Yay for a partner in crime...how cool that you have her :) I love the stage when the little ones start using so many words...I know the Bean is just adorable right now. Bunnies for brownies is too cute! I totally understand about the messy/disorganized situation...remember Jamison at the beginning of the year. Routine is SO key I think. I know you guys will get things in order :)
