So, on our way out of a restroom this afternoon, Lil and I were met by an older lady. She looked at the two of us and asked, "Is she your granddaughter?"

To be fair, it is a rural area, and it isn't unheard of for someone my age to have a grandchild Lil's age. However, my poor battered ego... ;oP

Seriously you are the second person who is my age who said that someone asked them that in the last week. I realize people in rural areas have babies earlier, but really? Come on a grandmother in your mid 30s? Seriously? That is just too depressing.
That is ridiculous and just plain stupid. Ignore totally. Was she being guided by a seeing an eye dog? Just wondering...

Well, if you are, you're the hottest grandma I've ever seen!
Ridiculous! You look younger than your "real" age to me. However, if it makes you feel better, a few weeks ago, my partner and I were out to dinner. He is somewhat younger than I, but not as young as the waitress made him out to be. She set the check by me and said, "Here you go. I figure you didn't want your son to pay!"

Eveyone thought that Allie and Zeth were my grandkids and I was raising them. I set them straight! It is a rural thing and people would rather assume that than think moms can be older.
To give you a giggle-it even happened while I was at Marshall. I was asked if my b.f was my daughter! That was ego shattering!
Ugh. That is weird. She obviosuly asnt looking AT YOU. I had someone ask me if Gabe was my son. What? I had a baby at 50??? LOL. I didn't take it as a compliment, caue it meant she was a little crazy. Hahah
