Oh. Wow.

Isn't it incredible how quickly kids can find trouble?  This is blue food coloring.  We don't want to go into how she came by that food coloring because someone would have to take the blame--she forgot it was mixed in with school supplies in the school room.  But, we're not going to point fingers.  Nope.

Fun was obviously had and I was terrified it would never come off.  You know how food coloring is.

This is after a nice long soak in the tub.  I'm shocked at how clean she is.  I was afraid we were going to have to go to Lil's "Oceans of Wonder" presentation tomorrow with a little smurf.  I cannot begin to express how grateful I am we won't. :o) Whew!

Off to google how to get food coloring out of carpet...

Sparklies:

1.  If you have a TJ's nearby and you like mint chocolate chip ice cream and you like ice cream sandwiches, I would recommend you invest in these:
They really are about the size of a sandwich cookie and are perfect.

2.  For Liss:
Red Volunteer
Strawberry Candy
Frankly Scarlet

3.  Sister Jeane came by today to talk Catholicism with me.  It was wonderful to just sit and chat and visit.  She'll be leaving July 1 and I'll miss her.
4.  "Meeting" more folks today!  It was lovely having you say hi, thanks for introducing yourself!  And, for those of you I've "met" before, lovely to see you again. :o)
5.  That blue coming off Beanie.  Thank goodness.
6.  Lil was in such a good mood today.  I think she's getting over her tired.
7.  The suggestions for how to handle Miss Run.  Thank you all!

No milestones.

******************************
I have no other way to explain this other than to say it was a sign.  This morning, in the middle of my kitchen floor, there was a little green tree frog.  Yes, in my house!  I have no other explanation.  Holly hadn't yet been outside and this guy was cool and damp (I had to save him from my curious kitties).

Pop saw an incredible rainbow yesterday. Another sign.  Our girl knows we needed her.  :o)

Hi Rach. I've been reading your blog for a few years now...I get such a lift from reading your posts. I'm a fellow teacher and mom (although my girls are much older than yours); I enjoy reading your observations about daily life with kids. I love the recipes and garden ideas you share, and I appreciate your ideas and thoughts about more philosophical topics. Thanks for sharing your world with us; mine is better for it. :)

Oy, kids!!! Makes me remember some pictures of my older two- Robert was 2 and Barbara was 1 and Robert decided to draw Tigger stripes on himself and his little sister- with my Sharpie markers no less!!! I'll have to try to find those and share- you'd die laughing. Robert was so proud of his handiwork! :)

Love the signs you & Pop saw. :)

Sending you hugs from NC! I'm almost to the end and can't wait to sit down and email you a long email! :)

Hello, Rachael! I've also been a blurker (albeit a quiet one) here from some time. I don't remember exactly how I came across your blog, but I have been inspired by the honesty in your posts and the determination to live life to its fullest you show in them.

I especially like the Sparklies section and of course the beautiful girl who is behind it. When I was in college, I had a professor who told us how we should do at least one thing (thought, action, acknowledgement, etc.) each day to "save it" and make it different and worthwhile. Your blog and your sparklies are the perfect example of saving days.

I'm also a lifelong Catholic, so it's also been really nice to see the gradual process you went through to come into the Church.

Many blessings too you and your beautiful family!

That first pic of Ellie is just TOO CUTE!!! She's just so darn pleased with herself, lol!! Glad it came out though and I hope you found something good to take it out of the carpet.

I've commented before, but it's been awhile. I can remember when my 15yo was about 15mos old. He saw Barney making bread on TV and decided to try it himself with baby powder: from one end of the house to the other before I could get to him, he had emptied an entire huge container of J&J baby powder! The house smelled overpowering for days, and he was so proud of himself! It took me a week to get all the powder up.

Oh, LORD!!! That is the most amazingly messy little girl I've ever seen! I kind of love it, though! :)

That was awesome. It always amazes me how fast things can happen. Just wanted to say Hi, I found you through Burg Baby...I think.

I am stunned that she came that clean. I was helping a customer while the flurry of texts were coming in and she was eagerly awaiting the updates, too. (I had a bit of gift wrap to tend to for her.) So glad that Violet has left the building!

Hi Rachel. I've been reading your blog for quite awhile. I have 4 children ages 5,7,9, & 10 (4 boys and 1 girl). I love reading your blog because of your positive attitude and love of life regardless of tragedy! While you keep it positive, you also keep it real. I love that!

Rach, Love the 'blue girl' and also surprised she cleaned up so well! I love my lily garden but have forgotten the names of the different varieties I've planted. Do you keep a plant chart? place the name tag by the plant? or do you have a phenomenal memory? Just a reminder...lilies are terribly toxic to kitties, even the pollen.

Rach said...

Kathy, it's part phenomenal memory (my memory is legendary in our family!), and part name tags I tucked in the ground around them. ;o) Also, if I can't remember and I don't have a tag, since I purchased the lilies from Oake's, I will look on their site until I can find a match. :o)

Thanks for the lily reminder--I had NO idea about the pollen. No more lilies *inside* the house.

That child is MISCHIEF PERSONIFIED!! Did you get the colouring out of the carpet?? I always find the blue colouring the worst for getting out of anything!!

Oh I laughed.

The tree frog and the rainbow confirms that there are miracles in life, just when you need them. What lovely signs of your daughter. God bless.

I loved hearing that you believe in signs from your loved one. My Mom passed away last July. At the funeral right as the family came in, there were many birds outside the beautiful stained glass window right above the casket. After the funeral, I drove by that window and there was nothing there that would interest birds. On Christmas morning, all the family gathered at my Dads house. I opened the kitchen blinds and started preparing Christmas dinner. Flock after flock of birds landed outside that window. Some kinds of birds that I had never seen. A few weeks ago, we went back to my Dad's and we went out to eat at a restaurant that we used to all eat at together at the mall. When we came out of the mall, right by the door we heard an unusual sound. There were four male bluejays gathered under some trees eating something on the ground. I have never seen four bluejays at once and certainly not by a mall. I hope I am right and my Mom is telling me how wonderful heaven is!!!
